#40 Sabiki's ??

Where in the San Diego area can I find the Sabiki's that have a #40 main line with #30 branch lines that have 4 jigs on them??.. Thanks

thanks for the info

I've never seen 40# line on sabikis in San Diego, that doesn't mean they are not available, I've just never seen them. You can get 20# rigs at most tackle shops and also Big 5 Sporting Goods and Wal-Mart. You might call Squidco Tackle at (619) 222-8955, they would know.

I get 30/20 sabiki's on ebay in bulk for $1 each.

What size sabiki hooks do you guys use at LJ? I've been using smaller ones recently like #8 and #12 hoping to get smaller bait but still keep bringing in 12" macks. Not complaining about the big baits, one of those got me that 46lb wsb last month.

Don't mean to hijack your thread Hank... hope you got some info that helped.

Dave, not to add to your Hi-jack, but I use #6, #8 sabikis, get mini macks, medium macks, and huge macks. I think it depends on what bait is around at that time. If you are getting salami macks, that is probably what is available at the spot you are dropping your sabiki. If I don't find a producing spot, where I can load up my tank, I usually troll my sabiki around to find them... btw I am a believer in big baits now! :D

Yo Mad sci (sabiki's)

Hey Brad what brand are those? I want to order 50.
This way i can just dispose of the three one pound
greenback sabiki salad mess. Thank you very much

madscientist 06-08-2006 06:47 AM

Ebay is kind of erratic, so just watch out for sabikis. I just ordered some 10 packs but I didn't see the 40 packs anywhere. Still, 10 cut in half is 20, should last a while.

Yup. I do. If making bait is tough, it can be frustrating to lose a few, but most of the time i reel em in fast, keeping tension on the line, lift into the yak/boat and they fall right off without tearing up their lips or noses.
I also make my own sabiki rods (4 so far) out of PVC. End up only using 3 hooks so its shorter and cleaner. The whole mess reels right into the PVC so theres nothing to snag. When i see bait, i just grab it and "bombs away" out it comes.

I always pinch the barbs down. I sometimes will lose a few and my friends who are less experienced lose a lot but it's so much easier to deal with them especially if you get stuck with a hook somehow.
