Beginner Yak Recommendations

I was just wondering what you all recommend for a good beginner kayak? I was born and raised in SD, avid surfer and fisherman, but I never put two and two together in 27 years and realized Kayak Fishing is right down my ally. I am 6'4" around 230 lbs. Also I drive a Tacoma regular cab with a 6 foot bed to drive around the kayak. That brings up another question, should I get a camper shell for my truck? I was looking at the Malibu Kayaks Sierra 10...Thanks!!:yt::yt::yt:

You should be looking at a larger kayak, 12foot would be the SMALLEST for a person your size, you will not enjoy a 10 footer. Ask some of the guys here or better yet go to see CJ at the Mission Bay store, he will let you try a few to see what works best for YOU. He hs been doing this for years and he will NOT stear you wrong.

You need a big kayak, 14 ft + would be right for ya!

Or buy the sierra 10 use it and find out that you should have bought a sit on top kayak and then buy something else bigger...you make the choice.
