To hole or not to hole..

I have a Stealth 12 and I just bought the Walmart Pump Kit, I saw the OEX video and looks straightforward but just thinking about making a hole at the bottom makes me feels nervous and I have the feeling that I will be thinking on this all the time of course I will use a lot of marine goop to seal it but a hole is a hole.

Any of you had problems with this, have you need to be more careful with your kayak after installing the kit?.

There are several guys that have made holes in both new and older kayaks, to my knowledge none of those kayaks are sitting at the bottom of the ocean. When/if you decide to go forward I would go with 3M 5200 or something similar, Marine Goop is good but 3M 5200 is much better.

The first thing I did with my PrAngler 14 was drill a 2" hole in the bottom to install a flush-mount transponder. Never gave it a second thought, and it has never leaked a drop.

The hole:

Dont worry youll be fine drill the hole...if your not confident about it take it to andy at oex. Ill tell you from experience it is completely safe as long as its done right. 5200 is preferable in my opinion, over goop, because thats wht its designed for...dont screw around use the good stuff.
