Might I ask where you got it hat information? While this has been a rule for the past few years, it has been a landing specific, or boalt specific or even trip specific rule, particularly targeting multi day trips. I find it hard to believe that the landings would put out an edict like that without a publicised fight with the Border Patrol or INS. That would severely impact their overnight and day and a half business, not to mention the 3/4 day Coronado boats. Just fyi ND it hard to believe but anyone who has spent the ice with me knows I have been wrong a few times in my life.

Silbaugh4liberty 05-27-2015 04:36 PM

Is this true. Was just about to book a 3/4 on the Malihini. No big deal for me, just want to have my passport if it'll really be necessary

Zed 05-27-2015 04:53 PM

Call the landing and ask when you book.

Ggiannig89 05-27-2015 07:06 PM

Not sure if it's true or not but one of the fish count reports did put this out. Definitely call the landing if you want to be certain. Kind of a bummer but I may have to book a 3/4 day to take advantage of lighter loads due to people not having a passport.

Unfortunately it's the real deal.

Ah ok today is the day they made it official.

Well I wonder if this will hamper folks and many just won't get a passport?

Honestly having a passport opens you up to much more than just fishing.

Hard to believe but there is more to life than just fishing!

blitzburgh 05-28-2015 07:24 AM

I don't mind, it is their waters after all. Just wish they'd get their $hit straight once and for all. They're all over the place :D

Unfortunately this is probably true. Another revenue hit for SD landings. Anglers will have to foot the bill to cover emptier boats one way or another.

Per the H&M website. Passport is only required for trips 3 days or more. It is recommended to bring passport but not required on shorter trips.

They changed it from this morning. Even called yesterday. Since I just bought 15 (3/4 day) passes for some of my guys at work. Looks like I am going to need a refund.

I just called HM landing. They said that it is true and that the Malihini be fishing US waters indefinetly. Most likely the outer banks or La Jolla when the YT are hitting.

He said that they may be putting on specific Coronado trips but he doesn't know since they just heard about this yesterday.

Haha, I just called them too and they said the same thing. They got 30-40lb bft today. At the longfin, the guys were saying 100 lb + bft within 8 miles, and Chris Dunn commented back to me saying 100-130lb bft!! I got my passport but won't be needing it this year!

Knife jigs? Did you step it up to 50 lb flouro? Or is 40lbs okay? I just picked up some cedar plugs yesterday, and got some tady 4/0 single hook jigs, slow pitch/flat fall jigs too. Hoping to get on a boat Sunday or Monday
