Saturday was one of those magical days, It was nonstop catching! I ran out of bait and left them biting! It was unusual windy in the morning so I started out inside the harbor and then made my way outside. There were so many short Halibut and White Sea Bass. At the end of the video I caught a giant Shovel Nose on my last piece of bait.

We used to eat shovelnose shark when we fished Oceanside Pier.

Solid job, man. I've only used artificials the last couple of times out of Dana or newport, and, only when the conditions are great (temps, darker water) do I even remotely get action like that. The wind has been blowing for a while now, hopefully it dies down very soon and the water temps get up to near high 60s for a few days.

Sounds like a nice day! Air temps were HOT out there this weekend. Went out of DP on Sunday and cruised up past Creek to the North end of Monarch. Water temp went from 62 along the harbor jetty to 70 up North of Creek. Lots of Cuda and Calico plus a few Bonito while trolling bait, but that's all I ran into up that way and on the way back.

I was thinking of that. How do they fare?

A lot like scallop, filet, cut into pieces and seared in butter with salt and garlic. Like scallop you don't want to over cook them. I'm pretty sure if you cut them into rounds most people wouldn't know the difference.
