Dana Point. may 30th

Got on the water today at about 1:30 pm. It was hot. Damn hot! Africa hot! Pulled up to the bait barge but they were only holding some rather large macks. The boat was on its way back with anchovies 1-hour ETA. so I hung out and jigging a plastic just outside the harbor. Hooked a big kelp fish that made all the tourists on the Dana Pride cheer. I had to laugh. Saw the bait boat coming in from the south west and headed over to the barge to stock up. It was nice all day today I stayed out until the sun went down. Hooked into 2 small halibut and 1 legal also got slammed by somethin at least 20lbs or Bigger. Don't think it was a halibut, Maybe leopard shark? seemed to fight a little different. WSB? hmm <10 of water and 30yrds from shore. I dont know....Fun day.

Nice day. I plan on doing the same tomorrow except maybe getting out a little earlier. Hopefully it won't be as hot as today, but the wind seems to have died down enough to enjoy an awesome day on the water. <10' 30yds from Doheny beach? Probably a leapord! Too bad you lost him, they are a beautiful fish. Thanks for the bait report, I can plan accordingly!

Thanks for report. Nice job in picking up some halis- they have been few and far between the past few months. I have been picking up 1-2 Leopard Shark every week for the past 3 weeks at Doho and Strands. They put up a nice fight! I hear the t sharks are starting to show up- if you want a really awesome fight...

Awesome day today, light wind, small swells, cooled off a bit. A cattle boat seemed to be doing pretty good and was sitting in one spot for hours, and people were onboard cheering the whole time. Lots of bait, lots of Calicos (mostly shorts), few halibut. I even picked up 3 Barracuda on the troll. It's starting to look like summer!

Weird in tapatalk app it does not appear anything was written. Thought it was a post made in error.

I tried yesterday as well, small macks and chovies at the bait receiver. Trolled a mac to the point and back hoping for a T but nada. Headed to the beach at Doho but nothin there either. Did come close to three whales near the jetty outside the harbor though. And LOTS of seal pups on the rocks. Nice day despite the lack of fish.
