Tips For Cleaning Oil Off Of Kayak Hull

Got some nasty oil on the hull of my kayak. This is the 3rd time I have had this happen after fishing in redondo. in the past I have scraped it off since it dries on hard, and used some gentle chemical cleaners to remove the remaining residues, but it was pretty difficult. Wondering if anyone has a better way?

Best is to have a sponge handy to remove it as soon as you can, on the water or launch. I got mine off with cooking oil.

WD-40 works as well.

When I worked on black oil Tankships, GoJo hand cleaner was what we used most often to clean clothes and personal items. For bigger jobs, we used Citrikleen.

Ya I love fishing Redondo but hate that oil thats always seems to be on the water. I've been scrubbing it off with a car road tar removal product from the auto store but it is still hard to get off once it hardens. Too bad we can't have clean water to fish in here.
