How do I catch a bat ray in SD Bay?

I'm serious. I want to know how to catch a bat ray.

Fish while the tide is changing. Drop squid on the bottom. Fish heavy line. 30-40lb mono on a 5-6/0 j hook. When they swim threw you'll hook up.

Dropper loop, squid, night time

BoB
Bait on Bottom, mackeral, afterdark.
Try to cast to the channel, sit back, contemplate, comune, talk to your maker, catch a ray, give praise.

All of the above ^
And if your rod is in a holder, make sure your bait feeder is on or the drag is set loose or you'll setup will be dragged into the depths before you know what happened.

Sweet. I'll give it a whirl. I have never caught one (but I've seen a couple 100#ers cruising the kelp on dive days and damn that is a burly looking beast) and I want to see if they're as strong as everybody says.
