Hammerheads& swimmmers.

With all these big Hammerheads/sharks I'm surprised no swimmers that swim to the La Jolla pier and back have not gotten bit.

Cool video. I could be wrong, but it seems like hammers are pretty well designed to eat fish. Opportunists I'm sure, but I don't know that marine mammals are their thing?

There are many sharks, that even tho big enough to kill large prey, focus mostly on fish. Scalloped and smooth hammers are in this groups. Threasher can reach a huge size but still eat small bait fish. Some sharks like whites and makos, focus on fish until theyre big enough to eat bigger prey. Some like bulls and tigers will take a swing at big stuff about any time. Then they're are sharks like great hammers and many carcarrhinids that can be extremely aggressive at times and retiring at others. So I'd say our local swimmers ate safe from sharks except for decent sized whites. Mike
