GoPro Tips Tricks Q & A

I just got my hero2 so let the fun begin. For those that already have one what are some tips and tricks that you can provide?

1.Don't forget to hit record
2. They don't float
3. Have fun with it

Point the camera downward more than you think. Check to see that the lens is splash free when you turn it on. Select the one touch recording.

I will have mine tomorrow as well. Just don't do like I did the first time I used it, leave it on in between sessions too long. The battery burns kind of fast...

exactly. and when turning it on/off, DONT accidentally get into the settings menus and mess everything up like I did. I came home and had 150 pictures of my face as I was trying to figure the settings out again!

I don't think I left it on. This happened before. Does the battery drain when not in use for a few weeks. Seems odd.

What resolution do most of you use? Obviously, higher resolution means you have less recording time and battery life. Is 1080 really necessary? How many of you use 960 or 720?

I have mine on the highest, r5! I have a 32gb memory so never runs out. You can find the 32gb memories for ~$35 on www.slickdeals.net

Also, mine has been foggin up on me lately, that shouldn't be an issue if yours is brand new, for some reason the older they get, the more they fog up...

Can't wait for your Hali vids...

Cheers:cheers1:

I just got mine, had it out and played a little last week, set it up and check aim at home, you can get the 32mb card off Amazon for like 18.00
that's what I did, put the floating back door on, not much sound with it though, I have tryed r2 to r5 recording, didn't see a whole lot of difference, once you get used to the menu screen access and use, it all
falls into place, very cool...have fun :reel:

nice! Need to get one since I'm on my 3rd GoPro:eek:

First one lost late in a day and I got some sweat in my eyes. The Go Pro was on a head strap (I forgot about it) and I flung my hat off to wipe my forehead and the GoPro launched into the water. I nearly got it back with the paddle but watched it slip off the paddle and slowly sink into the deep blue

2nd one sank with a kayak.....maybe the float device would have saved the kayak :D

a couple of suggestions

1.gopro makes an adheasive foam that sticks to the back of the waterproof case that DOES make it float. GET IT.

2. I had about an hour long fight with a thresher that I assumed was on film but wasn't due to a common mistake. when you hit the power button to turn on your gopro it does not automatically turn on in "video mode". you must hit the button again until it switches from single shot to video. I spent the whole hour doing commentary and catching underwater shots. when I checked my footage all I had was one cool picture of one very bendo rod.
I knew this and even practiced turning my gopro on and checking settings the night before so I wouldnt make this mistake, but in the heat of the moment all that was forgotten.

3. I was already said before, Angle your gopro slightly down or you will catch alot of cloud footage. play with your new camera before you take it out and get familiar with it so your not learning to make adjustments when you really need it to preform

hope this helps

At the lower resolutions you will not be able to view it as clearly on larger screens.

Don't buy the cheapest memory out there, you will end up regretting it. Go with a Name Brand like Kingston. Lost a lot of good footage on a cheap card that would not record properly on sunny days.

Although they are cheap to replace, the lenses scratch fairly easily so I keep my camera in a soft bag.

The GoPro and GoPro 2 can be set up for "One Button On" which can help out a lot if you do not intend to change to the different modes.

Be prepared to spend a lot of time producing your final products, especially with longer videos.

Nice, Art Laboe and a GoPro demo. Post a pic of your camera mount.

Get a job!:D

jorluivil 01-10-2012 12:08 AM

I took a few snap shots of my dogs with my GoPro. I used the 10FPS option, its amazing how well it works. You'll need a class 10 card for this.
