Interesting day.... Late start because alarm clocks are hard. Got bait and went solo out to the drop-off about 2.5 miles out. No luck on the bottom, but saw tons of bird and surface activity about another half mile+ out. Tossed out the large spoon a few times into the mix and ended up landing a solid barracuda. Didn't keep it, but it was a fun fight! And very interesting having all those teeth flopping around the kayak.... Conditions were great up until about noon when the wind picked up like crazy and conditions went from bad to worse. White caps breaking over the side, a solid S swell on the water and powerful gusts. Decided it was best to call it and head in... Hope tomorrow the wind stays off it a bit longer!

Nice log! How long do you estimate it to be?

should have kept it, delicious taste when properly cooked. And rare too, at this length.

Thanks! It was at least as long as my leg and I’m 6’3”. So I’d say about 34-36” at least (according to my leg measurement lol). I don’t usually target these guys on purpose but this was definitely my largest ‘cuda to date.

It’s great to see them being afrond so early in the season. Great catch!

Thanks! It was mixed in with lots of dolphins and porpoise. Lots of bait too, so I assumed there had to be some fish in there too
