Gnarly weather, but well worth it on the Islander 1.5 day trip

The trip out to San Clemente Island was pretty gnarly with rough seas, high swells and lots of wind. When we woke up the next morning, we were still motoring to our spot to try and get out of the wind. We finally go on the water around 8:00am, a little later than we had hoped for. The wind was pretty brutal at times, but as the day wore on, it lessened enough to be able to fish relatively comfortably. For me, it was an afternoon bite and I got my fill of big Calicos, Bonito, Sheepshead and one fish that was all read but that I couldn't identify. AND I finally caught my first yellowtail off of my kayak. I was totally stoked and that alone was worth getting pounded by the wind and the swells! A great trip, a lot of fun, met a lot of great people, ate like a king and at the end which all together put a huge smile on my face.
