Something Different

Fished Sandwich Mass last week with my almost 5 year old son and uncle-in- law and had a blast!
Had it to ourselves thanks to the hook up from Sturgis Boat works the Hobie made getting to the hard to reach places during the tidal swings a breeze….
Attachment 7020
We caught loads of stripers using sea worms and light tackle.
Attachment 7025
The best part was seeing my little guy go solo, cast, set and reel. He was on fire.

He also landed this nice little fluke or as he liked to call it a “flute”

And the money shot, a nod to Pruitt. I think he’s ready for LJ

Now all that looked like a blast

East Coast striper, the best, when you get the bigger models, some nice eats right there, the tidal swing daily, out there, compares only to the tidal swing here when there is a tsunami....I fished there for a 3 month period and had a
"blast" on small chrome diamond jig heads with a 3 inch brown/silver plastic eel
or slugo type plastic, amazingly if you throw some west coast stuff at them
like Hammer, they go nuts...thanks for sharin...:reel:

Congrats to junior for a job well done.:luxhello:

Josh that's awesome! The smile on your boy's face is priceless. I bet he was having the time of his life.

We just got back from Maine where we had the most insane striper fishing ever! It was WFO, I had 25+ in the 33-42" range, they were boiling up and down the beach and in true west coast style, I was fishing the iron on conventional gear. The looks I got from the hard core, set in their ways striper guys were hilarious, until they realized I was out fishing them 5 to 1. Anyway, my boy was so stoked to see these fish coming up on the sand, I can't wait 'til he's old enough to pull one in on his own.

We need to get out and catch some fish soon. Hope all is well.

Your little guy is sure growing up fast. I have not seen him since Tsunami day in Kauai last year. From the looks of things, you are giving him excellent training.

Thanks E. It was awesome tons of places to fish around there and tuna within peddle distance. Wasnt ready to do it though with out a wingman as those waters are loaded with Whiteys, this happened a few miles from where we were ....http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/grea...yaker-16738896. A while back the outer bank broke and the seals moved in, and you know what followed suit...

Yakin 07-18-2012 08:23 AM

Hey on the pic of the first striper, What are the tan bumps all over its fins and head?

yakrider 07-18-2012 01:34 PM

Good job!I know the feeling when you sit back and watch your kids catching their own fish and so stoked about it too.Just Imagine, some day he will be taking YOU fishing,..

T-Rex 07-18-2012 06:40 PM

Great post! Brought back a lot of good memories for me and my kids. We lived in South MA for three years and used to fish the Canal, Sandwich and Scusset Beach all the time when my kids were about the same age. The back yard money shot is classic!
