Sat. 3/20:
With the forecast showing an almost "perfect" winter weather day, Steveooo called to bribe me into getting my new yak out of dry dock and onto the water for it's maiden voyage. With the recent photos/reports of some nice:wsb: we were optimistic of our chances. Bait was tough in the dark but once the sun peaked out just past gray light, it was plentiful. Not the "right kind" but still a blast on a great day out there. Coming up to color... http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...r/P3200055.jpg Since I have family and friends in town visiting from Taiwan who would really enjoy the fresh eats and I felt comfortable with the size (not too small, not too big) for the yak, the decision was made. That effort did not last long as I decided pulling the drive for some added room and paddling it in would be much more efficient. Maybe we will get lucky and one of Steve's magical vids will appear someday as I couldn't get my videographer skills going today. Those pictures could go in a Hobie ad. Awesome quality! Question about your boat: why'd you go with the Adventure instead of the Revo like everyone else does? Are you happy with it? One guy told me its hard to get into the front hatch on an adventure on the water.

I have been on both and being that I am 6'-5", the Adventure gives me a bit more room in the cockpit. I had a tendency to bottom out the pedals on the Revo. Yes, it is a bit more difficult to get to the front hatch but it can be done pretty easily once you get used to it. |

Nice Catch. You don't have to make excuses to any of us about keeping a threshere once a year. Sounds like the timing was right to keep one. I saw you land it and pose for a good 30 minutes with it, but never saw you bleed it. If you didn't they taste a lot better bled (they urinate in their blood, so bleeding sweetens the meat.
About 45 minutes after you caught yours, C-Level's Cousin, Randy hooks while fishing solo on their boat. Mid fight, the thresher goes airborn and jumps into the bow. So much for catch and release... Nice catch. |

Nice catch, congrats!!! I'm with Mr. JH - nothing wrong with keeping a T here and there. That one was a perfect kayak handling size. It seems to me many more of them that get caught around LJ end up being released, that's very cool too. |
