Looking for kelp in socal

I really miss fishing the kelp in Salt creek and La Jolla. Does anyone know where there is some nice kelp beds we can fish in kayak range? Like obviously visible on the surface and can be tied up to.

Kelp around the point in Dana Point has been making a bit of a recovery. Some really thick places between the point at Strands up to Salt Creek. Easily visible on a lower tide. Only issue is currents can get pretty strong and pin the kelp sideways at times keeping a lot of it just below the surface. It's been very cold the past couple weekends though. I measured a low 50.6 degrees last Sunday!

Seen a lot of kelp at LJ too, but I've only been fishing there a couple years so I don't have anything to go off of for how it "used to be."

Kelp....

I usually head south at Dana Point, it does look like it's making a comeback, not what it used to be, but there.

Lots of kelp at the Cabrillo Mole in Avalon, but not in kayak range from mainland.

However, about 50 feet from the boat landing.
