I had just reeled up a big shark off the bottom in 200ft. Once I confirmed it was a spoiler, I broke it off and was inspecting my line when out of nowhere this hammerhead shark charges my kayak. At the last moment he turned and whipped his tail at me pretty hard. It was a perfect soaker shot. Luckily here in South Florida the water is warm, and it felt good. Afterwards Mr. Hammerhead circled around my kayak in an excited mode until eventually seeing no opportunities and then swam off. I have had many hammerheads follow my kayak and twice they tried to bite the solas reflective tape, but that was the first soaker attack -- I felt like I was in the front row of the Shamu show at Sea World -- LOL.

I wonder if having cut bait on the deck leaking blood etc might have something to do with him being extra aggressive? Thinking your yak might be a easy meal?
Absolutely AWESOME video thanks for sharing!:you_rock:

Thanks,

LOL, cut bait, bleeding out and gutting fish, bait guts, fish bag juices, etc......Normal operational procedures. Not uncommon for them to come zipping by and for that reason we don't keep our fish on clips in the water, but this was a first time soaker.

I was soaked by a thresher I was hooked up on years ago. The fish jumped 3 times around the yak, tied me up in the kelp and on the boat and then broke me off. It was 30 seconds of mayhem from hook up to break off.

I had a hammerhead attack me on my Malibu double.
I sailed in with three yellowtail laying cross/hatched midway on my deck, because the three hatches i had were to small to get them below deck. I just happened to look over my shoulder after dropping my sail outside the surfline and I seen him coming. When it got close to the yellowtail I karate chopped it with my sail paddle that got it excited swimming circle. La Jolla kayak pulled a woman swimmers out of the water it came back to me again and I karate chopped it again waiting for the low between surf and then heading in.if I had been farther out I would have had to give it a YT,since then i got a different kayak with a big hatch corba fish and dive.no scent tail coming back to the launch.later I heard that a hammerhead had been hanging around the launch it was el Nino 2015 I had 7 hammerhead encounters hooking and releasing 3
