Looks flat

The surf is gonna be high mid afternoon tomorrow and the next couple of days there after . Is this swell gonna affect the launch ? Surfline says the west swell direction is optimal for this location , meaning it is good for surfing . Any opinions on surf prediction ?

lol. it is supposed to be a high surf advisory on most of the coast , possibly effecting the lake . i will believe it , when i see it on cam in evening . decided to stay home , since you did not want to join me out there . :cheers1:

I was out yesterday and the conditions looked just like that super flat. The morning had a mild eastern santa wind pushing me out and then the afternoon had a mild western wind pushing me back in. Just perfect.

DFG survey taker was impressed with my fish , altho no yellow. I caught 11 species of fish, brought home 6.

For those who are not sure about ocean fishing and stick to the bay, well sometimes, (actually most of the time) La Jolla is calmer (less boat traffic chop) than the bays.

You disagree that west swells= waves in LJ? Don't see how that works...

Of course every one has their limit relating to waves and launching...but west swell does = surf in LJ....

Thanks

Thanks for fish report . As usual the guy giving surf report has his head up his ess . :icon_bs: amazing to here that dfg was around .. My understanding is that the short period swell is what affects the landing ? I was concerned that I would launch and come back to see 3- 4 ft rollers .Locally ( Malibu ) there is definite action going on .

That's a great tactic to scare off yakkers but I'm thinking it wasn't your intention. I didn't see waves past 1.5' all day today...just saying. LJ Shores will catch hell with a N/NW swell but the straight west is usually blocked...Jim
