G'day from Brisbane Australia

Hi to all,

I thought that after so long viewing from afar that I may as well sign up and become a member of your forum.

My name is James (and Im a kayakaholic:) ) I have been fishing from kayaks/canoes for over 20 years. I love catching Australian Bass, Bream, Barramundi and Mangrove Jacks from kayaks. My latest kayak (still on order and should arrive in country soon) will be a Malibu kayaks X-Factor. I have owned in the past Perception Swings, Minnows, Feel Free kayaks, Pelican canoes and a few custome made fiber galss indian canoes.

I hope that I can share with you all some pictures and reports as time goes on, and get to know a few more of you guys around the world. Feel free to pop in on our little kayak forum ( www.kayakfishingstuff.com.au) to share some of your pictures and reports as I am sure everyone over here will enjoy the variety.

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to sign up, and I look forward to talking to you all soon.

Welcome to the forum James. I'll be looking forward to your reports.

welcome, James!

I've never caught a barrimundi, but I have enjoyed them grilled, sauteed, and baked! I'd love to know what they look like "on the hoof" and yakside. :-)

Looking forward to your reports.

Cheers,

Brent

Shawn, the site administrator, is also the Malibu reseller in Western Australia. If you look at the Fishyak website you'll see a couple of pictures of Team OEX/Malibu origin. I think Malibu Kayaks provided some of the graphics. Shawn is doing a great job of building up Malibu's market share in Australia. The fishing-specific kayak market in Oz has been dominated by Perception, OK and Hobie, but Malibu is now making some strong inroads.

It's a small kayak world after all......:)

:yt: Hey dude whats up, if you know what I mean,. I was raised in California but love the land downunder. My wifes parents are from Bundy. I was in Australia last christmas fishing and freediving the reef at Lady Elliot Island. The best place on Earth is Fraiser Island. tell us more about fishing in Australia. P.S. to bad about John Howard!. The poor bastard.lol :yt: :yt: :yt: :yt: :yt: :yt: :paddleersmilie:

keljad 12-03-2007 11:51 PM

yeah, I agree......poor Johnny. He was the best thing that ever happened to Australia, the economy, US relations and our military. Watch the Aussie dollar fall, interest rates go up, defence budget cut and the country go back into debt as has done under every labour government before, (the dollar is already falling)

Back to the fishing though,;) Fraser is a great place and there is just so many to list. I hope to get stuck into as much as I can when the Xfactor arrives so I can show you plenty of pictures and good ol' Aussie fish.

I will get some good pics of the humble bream and flatheads (our bread and butter estaury species) as that will be the main type of fishing I do. I also do alot of freshwater fishing for Bass ( a bit different to the large and small mouth), Yellow Belly (Golden Perch) and the Iconic Murray Cod.

I will also be throwing up a few pics of the Magnificent Barramundi. I hope to do a bit of offshore stuff also, but I am new to this. Hopefully I will get some Tuna, Mackeral, Snapper, Pearl Perch and a few others to show you.

Alot of fishing ahead (and sucking up to the wife), so in the interest of keeping up international relations in John Howards abscence, I will do my best:D

I think I will mainly target the Snapper because I love eating them;) But I will put heaps of effort into the Tuna and other pelagics as they are really good fun:D

watch out!

Watch out for the crock holes up north.Read a kayaker got taken by a salty up in Gladstone i believe a year or two ago.I lived in Noosa for 2yrs & can't wait to go back.Talking about politics though, look up the Fabian society.com.au......... If you dare! They infiltrated the labor party back in the early 1880's.Only one word (Marxist's)fits them.In the second or third paragraph you'll see the statement (to build a social collective society)code words for communism.:(
