Fish finder finally installed..

So I finally put holes in my kayak, 5 to be exact.had plans to use the transducer capable scupper but my transducer was just to big...had to make a transducer arm on the fly and I think it came out pretty good.might add shrink tubing to it later. But the whole thing can be removed and put on my other kayak if I ever needed too..http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...c319408a91.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...f0b2b03d0c.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...645ce8193d.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...ae0b8a9191.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...07b60f71d4.jpg

Now hopefully I'll be able to get out some time soon and try my new finder

I have the similar Ocean Kayak trident 13' - with a transducer supporting scupper hole, and the same FF set up, I think - hard to read the model # in the pic. I see in the pic the transducer has that extra bracket. When I opened the box for mine, it came with the bracket like I see in your pic, but it was separate and can slide onto the transducer head. Once on it was a challenge to take off and not very obvious that it could be removed. So - is it possible that is the case with your transducer? If you can remove that extra bracket you might be able to mount it in the scupper.

Yea that's the same as mine I tried that too and didn't like how much of it was still vulnerable and not tucked up into the recessed area..do you have a picture of your transducer in the scupper?

This is the transducer in a OK Trident 13. It is pointing backwards, but I think that is only an issue in a hydrodynamical sense.

yak-fishing-socal 02-09-2015 05:51 AM

Oh nice I didn't think about putting it in backwards..thanks for the info I might have to give this a shot

yak-fishing-socal 02-09-2015 06:02 AM

No but I think everything would be already past you when you see it on the screen

yak-fishing-socal 02-09-2015 06:25 AM

Oh it does.good to know I'll keep my transducers arm

old_rookie 02-09-2015 07:00 AM

For this unit I don't think it matters - there isn't any side scan going on. It emits a cone and whatever is in that cone is shown on the screen. Orientation of the cone doesn't matter. With a display screen scrolling from right to left, we have no idea if the fish are swimming through the cone left to right, right to left, forward or backward. Unless I'm missing something - I'm open to corrections.

Your screen will scroll the same way no matter what. Its built into the FF system that way.

Think what he is saying it unless you have side imaging which you do not does not matter you can face that thing side ways and would work just fine.

old_rookie 02-10-2015 06:34 AM

Yup - it scrolls right to left. And at a constant rate too, regardless of my paddling speed - not that I expect it to match.

YakDout 02-10-2015 08:51 AM

You can however change the scroll speed on the HDS at least
