San Quintin, Day Two

Day two chasing halibut in San Quintin. The conditions were much nicer today. Very little wind at sunrise and then it laid down to zero wind for a couple hours. Really had high hopes. Managed two more halibut today, One a bit larger than yesterday's and one a bit smaller. Two grey whales inside the bay today. Quite surprising since the deepest water I have seen there is 54 feet. Gotta try again tomorrow but I'm running low on my Gulp Grubs. I may have to try to Sabiki up some live bait. That should discourage the sand bass anyway.

Sounds like a good time rossman. Making us northerners jealous on the daily!

Do you want me to hire a burro to bring you down more gulp shrimp?

It's Soccorro Beach. I drove to it about a year ago. Its pretty much a surf break but completely doable if the tide is high. Lots of stones line the launch, I would bring some water shoes. Didn't get to fish it, it is very exposed to the wind. But I hear the fishing is good.

many years ago I would have been surprised to see wales in water that was less than 100' deep, that was until I started to see just yards away from the breakwalls and beaches in waters less than 40' deep.
