Need some Color

Well didn't bring my hobie to MO with me.
I keep checking the BWE on the weekends on what was going back west.
I was pretty mad that I didn't bring my rod and reel with me.
Didn't think I was going to need it.
But found a local watering hole.

Had to scope it out saw some big gars out here.
if you ever been to MO there is nothing to do. But Drink, PT, and outdoor stuff. The closest thing to a mall here is a walmart. But hey I don't mind the simple life.

Found a place that I can rent a set up for a day for $5 and the fishing license was only $7 for a day.

Headed out to the place the call the spill off.

Blue Gill
Sun Fish
Small Mouth
First Saturday it took me 2 hours to catch anything. But I was worth it.
This mothers day weekend I wanted to tone down and pop my cherry on some pan fish.

Well enough talking heres some color.

at the bottom of carwash hill theres a pump station, its really deep and i used to slay the smallies all night on rattle traps there. also some cats roam the area so set out a crawdad or some crawlers. its rocky so be careful. also further up is some calm water and you can have a lot of fun with an UL and 4lb with some small worm hooks and earth worms.

check out the springs for trout and sculpin. i pulled a 13" sculpin out of there and some trout to 3lbs.

have fun in fort leonard wood. :cheers1:

lowprofile I didn't get the base stamp so I had to stay in the spill way. Thanks for the info. If I have time this weekend end I'll hit up your spots. But I got no where to do a cook out for Cdads.

How do I catch Gar... Thats what I want to target. I was going to do a drop loop and use the blue gill as live bait.

Yeah, and they don't shine quite that bright.

ozarks might have gar. never seen or heard of any in the river or lakes around there though. i caught them in alabama in the canals, so check and see if there are any around. but if you find them, you can usualy see them and sight fish them. a 10" piece of white anchore rope with wire leader running through it with 3 treble hooks.

If you look close you of the top water picture you see a group of Gars.

The Spillway! Lots of memories there! Cast nets are legal there for live bait fishing which will land you smallmouth, gar, drum, and flathead. If you cant figure the cast net they have traps for bait also to soak like hoopnetting. If its warm enough you can walk for miles up and down that river/stream. There are large salamanders called dog something or another that have a mean bite, snapping turtles, and water snakes (some venomous) that will come right after you. Great times out there!:cheers1::gnorsi:

shhh... remember you can't call them devildawgs any more they get but hurt. Lets say this guy has gone DI mode at the chow hall.

@jbara yeah all of my Marines just want to go to big daddys and all the spending money. So when I go I go by my self and the weather just got hot so more fish are top water so the snakes are every where.

I have had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane!
