Almost made the 30lb club!

I shouldn’t have bled it before weighing.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...96f9d607b0.jpg
I was fishing about 100 ft deep outside MB with a nice greenback on 3-way swivel. It was really slow fishing. I got hit once that crushed a mac head but didn’t get hooked. About 9:30, wham! No idea what it was except big. Got it to color and it was my first WSB! Been waiting 5+ years and finally got one! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good fight!
After bleeding it was 29.1 lbs and 44'.

Well done!! Congratulations man, that's a beautiful fish. To all a good fight indeed! :wsb:

Congrats on the first WSB. I'm still waiting for a large legal sized WSB and it's been over 7 1/2 years. I do say, I do not specifically target them. But I have been fishing close to others and we had the same three way rigs hoping for a nice Yellowtail and they ended up getting a 50lb WSB. So anything is possible. Enjoy those nice dinners it will provide.

Nice fish...if you're a real fisherman you would call it 30lbs :luxhello:

FISH11 12-13-2020 08:31 AM

X2 on it having been a 30lbs fish before bleeding.

If he was a real fisherman he would call it 30+ lbs and leave us guessing

I estimate a fish that size lost about 12lbs of blood, pee, and poop combined. Let's call it 40.

kirkdavis 12-13-2020 06:46 PM

Now you're talking.

When I got it to the surface, the stomach was turned inside out and sticking a foot out of it's mouth. I didn't think about it then, but when I gutted it the guts were small because the stomach was empty. 40 at least!::wsb::I've been wanting to use that little WSB icon for a long time!

Yep! Had the collars grilled the first night and fried up the bones to chew on and make soup. Froze the fillets and will probably use it mostly for sashimi. We’re going to try it tomorrow for our son’s birthday.

the fish looks like the skin is dry so it definitely lost some moisture. With that being said my guess is that it would have been over 50.............on a bathroom scale.

Welcome to the 50lb club!!

I believe we can take this to the bank. The one time I met you was about 4-5 years ago in LJ. I watched you pull in a YT, the a little while later I heard a banging noise. I looked over and you were whacking a nice Hali to make it dead. Obviously you're a man of experience when it comes to big fishies!:wsb:
