Absolutely, I'm looking forward to Moyer's tourney... :cheers1:

Jim, any way you guys can have the scale on the beach this year? I think it is way better... It gives you more fishing time, it helps to cut out the rush and frustration in trying to make it to Kate Sessions park scales in time. Just wondering.

I'll be there, & 2nd the scale on the beach...! :)

I really like the scale at the BBQ rather than on the beach, we did the beach the first year and it was just too crowded down there. More people came to the weigh-in and BBQ once we moved it to Kate Sessions than came when it was at the beach. Lots of parking up there and none of the dive shops encroaching in on our party.
With everyone waiting up at the park for those fish to come in adds a bit of excitement to it.
So to answer your question we will keep the scale at the park.

madscientist 07-13-2007 10:01 AM

Oh well. Scale at the beach is much easier on the anglers. It was very stressful last year trying to figure out how much time to allow for paddling in, packing up with the massive beach crowd, and driving to the park. Tyler saved my ass with his wheels. But I can also see the point about creating a crowd around the scale.

The only other way I could see it being done would be to have a "lines out" time with the requirement that all fish must be radio'd in before that time, then a more relaxed time frame for the actual weigh in. I've been in boater tournaments like that and it's nice because you know exactly when you can fish till without having to account for unknowns like beach crowds or highway traffic. If lines out was noon and the weigh in deadline was 2:00 or 2:30, everyone would have a pretty fair shot at getting their fish to the scale. I think the "lines in" that was done at the WCW kickoff worked pretty well and also helped deal with the morning crowd at the launch. There's enough radios out there that even those without should have no problems finding someone to relay.

Barring that, I'll do what I usually try to do: have the wife on standby with the car in case I need to hit the beach and go.:D

I only fished this once, and I believe it was the first year Jim had the weigh in and BBQ somewhere else. I don't remember the drive being a big deal at all. And yes, I did weigh in a fish.

Overall I thought it was a very well run event. Great food, killer raffle...

Unfortunately I haven't been able to make it back. Each year there has been something else going on the same weekend and this year is no different. Good luck to all who enter. even if you think you have no chance the food, raffle and chance to hang with everyone is well worth the price of admission.

I vote for a scale on the beach but the bbq where it has been at Kate Sessions for all the reasons stated above. I know it isn't my choice to make, but it would be easier on most.

No matter the decision I will be fishing the tourny and having fun. The scale on the beach would just eliminate the need to be driving and rushing to the scale instead of paddling to the beach. Anyone remember Adi's beach entrance for the BWE tourny? I wouldn't have wanted anyone trying to rush like that in their car to get to the scales.

Handymansd 07-13-2007 12:26 PM

I will be there regardless of the scale location if not for a big fish, then for support and fun. However, I tend to agree that loading everything up just to make the mad dash to Kate Sessions in the middle of the day at the shores is asking for trouble.

Seems like a good idea to me.

But I will be there regardless of scale location... actually I hope the scale(s) will be on the fish in my yak!

The scale / weigh in at Kate Sessions park is fine...why fix it if it aint broke? The Sammons & Moyers are gonna busy enough already.
If you don't make the weigh in by the cut off time - It's simple, yer out. :the_finger:

Any predictions on the big fish winner?
