Cleaned squid.. Thanks for posting video Oolie (here if you missed it- http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/s...ighlight=squid)

Soak squid pieces in buttermilk for 20 minutes.
Dredge in seasoned flour (salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, italian seasoning-whatever u got!)
Fry in 375 degree oil for 60 seconds.
Remove immediately and place on paper towels.
Dip in marinara sauce.
Feel a little better about not catching any fish :D

OK, I will show my ignorance again. I have not had a lot of success catching squid. I just picked up one of those mini squid rigs at OEX called "squid catchers" which I have been told work quite well with the small market squid. We will see how this thing performs in my hands.

Assuming the squid are still around when I hit the water again, (rising surf looks iffy for the rest of this week), I plan to fill my tank with whatever I can catch.

Assuming again that I am successful at catching some squirts and have some left after a day of fishing, what is the best way to package and freeze squid for future use?

Bob

Depends, do you want to freeze them to eat, or for bait.

To eat; I cleaned them first (just like in the video above), and them vacuum sealed them with a Foodsaver.

To use as bait; I lined a cookie sheet with wax paper, lined the squid up on it so that none of them touched, and put them in the freezer for about 45 minutes. Then I pacakaged them in a ziplok bag after the 45 mins. (This method keeps the tentacles from freezing together into a solid mass... that way when you take them out for Mr. :wsb:, you get the whole squid, not just the chunk that didn't rip apart.)
