SD Bay Launch Sites-Crown Cove?

Do you know if you can launch at Crown Cove south of Coronado. I want to take my son (11 yrs old) out to the bay to hook up some spotties and my neighbor tells me the bite is on down near this part of the bay. Last time we went out at J St. in Chula Vista (East side of the bay) and the wind was too strong for my son to get out any great distance. I want to launch near Crown Cove. I think I can park at the silver strand, pull the kayak through the tunnel and launch on the bay side. Anyone try this or have any suggestions. Just want my sone to hook up we have not had much success out in the bay. :bigear:

Ive launched there before...There is some good eel grass beds in the back bay there, plenty of action with the spotties. I would look into glorietta under the bridge. Its a super easy launch, easy parking if you go there before 8, and the fish are in about 40 ft like 50 yds away from the shoreline.Chartreuse head with clear hollogram color is the ticket. Swing by Ferry landing right before the breaker wall, theres a nice drop off right there for the flatties.

it might be easier to just launch from the cays. if you drive in to the cays and take an immediate right around the tennis courts and soccer field you will come to a stop sign, take a right and follow till you pass the houses, can miss the launch its on the right before the turn around. easy launch 50ft from car to water, nice calm channel, short paddle to the open bay, and if its too windy you have all the channels to fish in the cays. they opened a cafe right there too. check it out on google earth, & let me know if you want to hit it up.

I thought the Kays had a security gurad at the entrance and you had to live there? I saw that but was wondering if I could get over there without too much hassle..

Launch out of Glorientta at Tidelands Park, paddle out near the yellow bouy closest the bridge and fish OR paddle over to pillar 13 and fish.

OR just launch out of Shelter Island and go anywhere for easy pickins of spotties, sandies, etc. (PM me for more details.)

Good Luck!

Anyone can go into the cays, the guards just smile and wave when you drive by.
