Thinking about doing a lazy river trip. Need info

So I'm thinking of doing a lazy river trip in may is there any good rivers in California for this it would be a two day camping type river float with our fishing kayaks..me and my buddy really only fish offshore in the yaks but thought it would be cool to camp and have all our gear that we needed with us and kinda be self sufficient. Has anyone done one and is there a good river in California for this.? Looking to drive 4 to 6 house Max. I'm located in the OC area..any info would be greatly appreciated

Walters camp to squaw lake on the Colorado is a good one. 45 mi or so 2-3 days. You go through Picacho state rec area. Good smallmouth bass fishing. Really nice around picacho. Taylor Lake along the way is a great camp; good LMB fishing, as well as flathead catfish - fish live bluegill. You can find some god info online, google Colorado river boating guide map.

Colorado river is your main bet around here.

Willow beach to Cottonwood cove....very scenic. clean water great little private sandy coves where you can camp. Trout, stipers, catfish, carp.

Post up your plans/ dates this sounds like a fun adventure.

It's a lot farther than 6hrs but the lower Sacramento up here in Redding is great for this kind of adventure. Year round trout and steelhead, the fall brings the salmon up. One of the best tail water fisheries in the world.

We did Topock Gorge last March, great camp spot at Moabi, very fun.........may do it again this Spring, or Black Canyon below Hoover Dam.

GPS tracks

I was planning to do the Walters Landing to Squaw Lake with my wife last year but it didn't happen. I did some research on the trip and found GPS tracks for the route. If you do an internet search you will find a couple of trip reports that describe the route.
IF you open up this trip to other BWE members I would be interested in joining you on your trip, even if you do another route,
This type of tip has been on my bucket list for some time.
Let me know if you want the GPS tracks. I also have a PDF brochure of the map of the Lower Colorado river that details the river between Blythe to the Mexican border

How lazy a trip is this?

Are there any rapids to deal with?

Black canyon is amazing. I did a 5 day trip through there years ago. Sauna caves and hot springs were great in December.

Very high on my "to do" list, hope to make it happen this Spring.

Black canyon is a great trip. I've done it numerous times and its still a good trip. I'd be there this week with friends but other plans got in the way, SHOT show.
