Win or loose I can't wait to get some points on the board.

THE DARKHORSE 05-09-2011 11:33 AM

Speaking of the leader board...

Any chance of maybe updating the leader board on the front page as well?

You know, this thing? :

I never saw this leader board updated all last year. :D

Back in the day, it was kind of cool seeing the top three contenders photos up there. I also think it motivates the contenders who are just outside the top three. Well, I know it does. And I'd like to see my photo up there before Sharon bumps Eric and I off the podium! So thanks in advance.

One measly Yellowtail and Sharon bumps Deepdvr off his spot :cheers1:.

Also, any chance of creating additional jack-pots for each species again? That used to be a really cool part of this contest. While I realize there aren't as many players (so far) the jack-pots are a great idea.

All you need to do is catch, one, big fish all year and make a profit on your tiny investment. Someone in fifteenth place can make more money than someone in third place on the podium---by catching, one, big fish!

Biggest Halibut: One of the three largest could be caught by anyone.

Biggest Yellowtail: One of the three largest could be caught by anyone.

Biggest White Sea Bass: One of the three largest could be caught by anyone...especially since Deepdvr caught his before we started these jack-pots! :p

Biggest slam: Could be caught by anyone who enters!

For the guys who haven't caught a fish, yet, it's still a clean slate...so there's no reason not to enter these jack-pots. Or West Coast Whoppers for that matter. If you haven't entered yet, do it! It's just starting, it's still a clean slate...so now's the time. It's the same price as buying, one, Shimano Wax-Wing Calico Bass killer for crying out loud.:biggrinjester:

Maybe each person who is already entered could send the moderators a private message to inquire about potential interest for the jack-pots?

Or better yet, each entrant in WCW could receive a private message inquiring about potential interest from the moderators? Lets just assume everyone is, well, lazy like me and forget to private message people in the first place. That way, we're not broadcasting if there's not enough interest to suffice running the jack-pots. I'm simply trying to make this more fun for everyone who's already playing...food for thought.

Iceman 05-09-2011 01:36 PM

Adi always seems to have his hands full so I am doing it the way I used to by hand, no Excel spreadsheets. I don't do the Front page stuff either. If the field gets bigger ( I am sure it will) I could add the JPs.......right now we have a measly 1st place of $250 and a 1 inch tall trophy :biggrinjester: for fishing your arse off for a full year. I will be trying to keep right on top of things. Biggest of each species and SLAMs will be documented and I will recap monthly highlights and who bumped who when things really get popping.

THE DARKHORSE 05-09-2011 01:56 PM

Thanks for the hard work, Andy.

I realize you have your hands full as it is. And I'm sure Adi is busy, too; doing what you're not---fishing La Jolla! :D

As it's been said before, obviously, no person enters this tournament for the money. More than anything, it's about competing against friends and the additional excitement when that whopper comes to color beneath the kayak. Although, if you decide to put a Hobie tandem kayak as first prize, I might compete the entire year.

Besides, few men would complain about adding an additional inch to their manhood. :biggrinjester:

LOL 2 months in and 1st place is already running away. 2nd place isn't so bad!

Maybe if you can slam out the next 3-4 months you will have an inkling of a chance!

For me I just joined up a few days ago I am so far behind I am just hoping to put up some points before the end of the year. A top 10 would be nice...

Congrats on the nice fish everyone. :cheers1:

Regor 06-03-2011 05:41 AM

Congrats to the top 3, but lookout Sharon, I'm on your tail !

dorado50 06-03-2011 10:34 AM

Its not to late to buy that 2nd or 3rd place trophy!!:sifone:

deepdvr 06-03-2011 10:39 AM

Hey Dave, since you have more money than probably everyone else on the board combined why don't you hook us up and pay Josh not to fish.

sharonkayak 06-04-2011 07:45 PM

I think I am going to have to work hard to not get kicked off the podium.

So far I let two yellows live another day!

Regor if you want 3rd. I will have to move to 2nd place. I am not sure how eric will feel about this! :o

How about we just take 2nd and 3rd, and Eric can have 4th :)

Your loss is my gain :D

sharonkayak 07-10-2011 08:39 PM

Nice Work Whizz Bang, my yellowtail isnt quite as big for this month...:D

WCW Moderator 07-13-2011 08:06 AM

FINALLY! Took a few minutes and finished things up for this month.

Let me know if I missed anything! Great battle for the 2nd and 3rd trophy! :luxhello: Josh is in a personal battle to SLAM it every month!

Dan 07-13-2011 02:52 PM

3 or 4 months in and the biggest YT is 32lb. Where you guys fishing? Oceanside??

Come on people!! 28lb halibut? This is the year of toad flatty's and a 28lber is it so far? Even newbs on a sportboats out at Rosa are landing more 50s than 20s.

Josh might be posting slams and releasing 100s, if not thousands of WSB back into the wild, but as far as I'm concerned, Deepdvr has the only manly fish so far :D

I wanna see some real fish for July! :D

roadx 07-13-2011 03:56 PM

hmmmm didn't seem to get on the board??

roadx 07-13-2011 04:03 PM

also isn't a halibut worth 30 points?? jorluivil halibut was 14 pounds doesn't that total to 44 points??? for june

roadx 07-13-2011 04:07 PM

roby halibut was 19 pounds = 49 lbs??? puts him in 10th place alone

jorluivil 07-13-2011 04:11 PM

ROBY....come out and play so we can break that tie:D

roadx 07-13-2011 04:14 PM

bellcons numbers are off too

ROBY....STAY HOME:D

Regor 07-13-2011 04:24 PM

Fish are based on 10lb.
white seabass 10 points,
yellowtail 20 points, and
halibut 30 points.

Weight above the 10lb will count for ONE point per pound added to the base points.

This is rounded down so 10.9 is still only 10 pounds. Example: a 20# halibut, 30# yt and 40# wsb will all be worth the same 40 points.

14 lb Halibut = 30 pts + 4 points due to 1 point for every pound above 10lbs. = 34 points total.

Just saw that. Looks like Roby should have 39points and not 34, correct?
19lb Hali = 30 pts + 9 points = 39 points.....si?

Regor 07-13-2011 04:30 PM

Correct
