Early Summer YT Fishing

Time for another "tutorial" video where I get skunked and pretend to know a bunch about how to fish for yellowtail. Hope you like it!

Great video. Lots of good info. When you felt the fish hit your jig, was it just dangling in the water column while you were tying the leader on your other rod?

If so, was the jig just fluttering in the current?

Ya I had it suspended off the bottom. I saw the fish looking at my jig on the sonar and grabbed the rod then watched it bite on the sonar. It's not that I'm trying to get bit on the "deadstick" jig, more that I want to wind it up into the marks mid-column rather than dropping in on them. So you just have it dangling there then you put it in front of the fish when you see the mark.

awesome stuff! Lots of knowledge being dropped once again. I can relate to the skunk part, it actually makes the video more realistic.

Love your dedication to the sport. I would have liked to have seen a full spool of braid on the jigging reel for a faster retrieval per crank. Nice readings on the fish finder, I Like the way you took snapshots with your phone. I would have been bombing a sabiki through the bait marks to find a fresh one for the live bait rod. Narration videos take time and are way better than just watching someone reel in a fish. Good job with the video! Thanks.

Thanks John I appreciate that, glad you get something out of them. I don't want too fast of a retrieve because it will twist up my topshot or my braid. I know a lot of guys like to use the 40 sized reels for yoyo for just that reason, but I prefer the 35s for almost all of my jigging applications. That being said yes, it's time to re-spool all my rigs... spectra running low! The 38 pounder I got recently had me pretty much down to the spool. But in kayak fishing its way harder to get spooled if you keep a lot of pressure on them. Cheers!
