Z Man Plastics Where To Buy?

I missed the sale at overstockbait.com because of a computer glitch. It wouldn't process my order and the selection was limited.

Where is the best place to buy them now online or in a store?

Amazon, bass pro, tackle warehouse, seaforth, angler's choice, etc.?

It appeared to me that bass pro may have the cheapest prices but adding on the shipping makes it more expensive.

Amazon prime seems to cost a few dollars more per package but you get free shipping.

If the local spots would be about the same price as the online stores I would rather go there if they had a good selection.

Where to go?

landwhale 10-20-2014 02:23 PM

I buy from Tackle Warehouse

WildernessWanker 10-20-2014 05:46 PM

X2 Tacklewarehouse, although they don't carry all styles in all colors.

alanw 10-20-2014 05:56 PM

Basspro has free shipping promotions pretty often. Sign up for their email if you haven't already.

Thanks for that. To me it looks like basspro has the best prices and with free shipping it would be a no brainer.

Which Z man's do you like? I have been using the Paddlerz and the jerk shadz mostly. I am going to try those 6 inch Swimmerz down in baja.

What jig heads do you like to use?

Thanks in advance.

Z mans

Buy dierectly from z man ! Great web site and they ship quick

FISH11 10-20-2014 08:02 PM

I have ordered direct from Z Man when I wanted to be able to get the models and colors that often aren't available at the stores. I did pick up some more from that overstocked site before the sale ended, to get more of the jig heads with skirts that I didn't already have. I also saw some at the Seaforth store in Quivira Basin.

tsugg 10-20-2014 08:08 PM

True that

Yes! I couldn't resist overstocks sale. Those were great prices. I'm all stocked up for. While

What skirted jig heads have you tried before? I bought some warbaits and I know they will be good in the kelp but in the eel grass they are terrible. I will use the warbaits down in baja in the kelp.

FISH11 10-20-2014 08:21 PM

I just got those and haven't had the chance to try them yet. I have been using weedless jig head of different brands but I see the ones Wade uses all the time and it seems like they just add a lot to the presentation. They are first quality construction.

why dont more stores carry them? i use an owner ultra head 3/8 oz with the paddlerz

I sent a few of my pics using the zman paddlerz to their email yesterday and they responded a few hours later saying they're developing baits specifically for our fishery. They also said to let them know what our favorite colors are of other manufacturers baits.

I got mine at Fisherman's access in Brea, but they only have a couple different ones. Same at The Longfin. Seems like online is the best way to buy them.

I'd like to get some zman streaks xl for some larger calicos, or maybe yt too! Probably going to get rootbeer and pearl.

The colors that do great for me are the new penny and the houdini. Maybe a nuclear chicken would be good too and an anchovy color too.

I told them that popular colors for calico bass is usually calico hunter, red calico hunter, toast, holloween, Christmas tree, and sometimes purple or pearl, as well as natural colors for sardine and anchovy.

Only used the Paddlez so far

buddha 10-23-2014 03:03 PM

Dennis Burlason and Ed Howerton who have won the SD Bay Anglers tournament 4 times like to use brown, green, and orange colors. They should know it aint luck when you win it 4 times.

I am going to use the swimmerz for calicos. They are 6 inches long and look good.

https://zmanfishing.com/store/catego...ztech/swimmerz

They also have grubz that are 9 inches long.

The new Z-Man swimjigs in 1/2-3/4oz “Football JigZ” are awesome!
TT HeadlockZ jigs.
Reebs Quick Limits swimjigs.
Lead Masters swimjigs.
Warbaits swimjigs.
& ANY weedless swim jig with barb keeper.

FYI- Don’t use “screw-springs” to lock in your ElaZtech baitZ.
Those are only for inferior plastics and will NOT work with Z-Man ElaZtech.
The reason why is because the screw will tear into regular plastic baits, Z-Man’s ElaZtech super stretchy formula doesn’t propagate a tear, and wont allow the spring to cut or drill in. Use a barbed bait keeper for ElaZtech.

Thanks for the info Wade. I passed along the rigging for the pop shadz to my little bro back in Ohio. He just got some recently for LMB.

Because they want you to buy the inferior bulk plastics at a higher rate $, that also need to be replaced & break quite often, as compared to Z-Man..
I have tried to acquire Southern California Z-Man accounts at a few retailers, and they have told me this personally!?!…

Z-Man’s ElaZtech formula literally is “10X Tough” & lives up to its motto.
Thus the reason they will last you longer, costing you less money..
You will not need as many, & you will catch more fish!
I hate to sound like a broken record or some constant lame advertisement but this is NOT :spam: & others are a askin'...

Sure, I’ve been using almost the entire Z-Man line up by personal choice for many years.. Thankfully I have had the privilege of several tackle manufacturers sponsoring me to product test their offerings & Z-Man has reigned KING time & time again. Made in the USA!
4” & 5” PaddlerZ.
5” & 7” Scented Jerk ShadZ.
8” StreakZ XL.

Don’t be afraid to use the 5” PaddlerZ for MONSTER Calicos. You don’t always need a bait the size of your arm to get the job done right, and a smaller profile can be finessed in the thicker kelp. The skirts on my swimjigs beefs up the overall profile. I don’t mind throwing the BIG baits either..+ there are a lot of really cool colors for the StreakZ XL & Jerk ShadZ that don’t come available on the PaddlerZ fyi. (Same goes for the 4” PaddlerZ Vs. the 5”.)

The Jerk ShadZ split tails are great and produce too, but the kick and wobble enticing action the PaddlerZ & SwimmerZ produce is unmatched. I have been mentioning to Z-Man for a couple years to put out an PaddlerZ in XL or Boot version on the StreakZ XL & it maybe it will happen?..
To each their own application, although I personally like pitching boot/paddle tail style swimbaitZ..

There are many more colorZ, and they look even better in person due to camera flash, reflection, glare,in packaging, with or without procure, ect in the online/catalog chip charts. (Many tackle manufacturers plastic colors & skirts usually look way off hue or appear really darker then they actually are fwiw.
The new 6” Houdini SwimmerZ are absolutely AMAZING!! You want a brown/red bait for CALICOS, HERE IT IS!
Comes with the signature Z-Man belly slot for full weedless rigging!
I will be testing them out for the first time this week & can’t wait…

Caught on 5" Z-Man Pinfish PaddlerZ, rigged weedless on a 3/4 Oz Warbaits white swim jig.
Look for this in the next KAYAK ANGLER MAGAZINE to hit the newsstands! :)

On the last Gonzaga trip I caught over 40 spotties on the same z man tail rigged on a a chatterbait. Trigger fish bite them too but they seem to resist better and last much longer. Tight lines
