GR6RR 04-13-2012 03:55 PM

looks really nice. never seen one of these before

CheapPelican 04-13-2012 04:27 PM

Is this a prototype or production model? Did it gain any weight?

Iceman 04-13-2012 04:43 PM

4.4 is listed as 44 pounds. This model is the F&D with the rec hatch behind, flush mount rod holders and round hatch forward. I weighed this one with the seat on 54#.

Production has just started. I got 2 to fill orders and this one today.

14'6" long 27" wide MSRP on the F&D is $831

Now that looks interesting, when do the demo's arrive .

Not wide enough for a gator hatch?

Probably 250lbs like the 4.4.

taggermike 04-14-2012 11:34 AM

Very nice looking yak. That bow is going to be even more "fun" in a surf luanch than my old Xtreme. Mike

Iceman 04-14-2012 11:43 AM

this thing should surf like the 4.4.

Thats to bad.... ill sink it with myself and just a rod.

HatterasCast 04-14-2012 04:04 PM

That camo job is so sick! Too bad nobody will see you on the water... Still love it though. Beats the hell out of the desert camo.

Mr. Adventure 04-14-2012 04:29 PM

oh man, that thing looks slick

Id love to take one of these to san o

chxh8me 11-14-2013 04:29 PM

What is the draw for having such a low profile? I can see how it would surf better, and be easier to lug around... but can also see how strength, weight limit, and dryness of ride could be negatively affected.

Is there some other benefit?

Ro12 09-26-2015 03:57 PM

I know this is a very old thread
Im just wondering about this kayak
Its got me interested
Does anybody out there have any exerience with it
Pros and cons
Im lookin for something to get me out further
Something fast and somewhat stable
I know it cant carry alot
I dont bring much
Or weigh much
I know its probably a wet ride
Im wondering bout stability mostly
Plus its supposed to be a surfing kayak
But it looks kinda like a SOT touring yak to me
Got my eye on this
The tarpon 140
And a few of the X model Malibu kayaks
Really liking the weight of this thing though
Any opinions and first hand stories are appreciated
Thanks guys

Ro12 09-26-2015 04:01 PM

Thresher 140 looks damn good too

CoastalEddie 09-26-2015 06:24 PM

I have one of these. Got it a couple years back at a Blem sale. I like it in the surf and that is why I mainly got it, to have fun. I am 6'3" 190 lbs and it holds me ok, but I do not use it much for fishing.

Ro12 09-26-2015 10:19 PM

Do you only surf with it
Or do you take it for long paddles
How's the ride
And how do I find a blem sale
How often do they come around
I could always use a discount

CoastalEddie 09-27-2015 09:25 AM

Was mainly for fun in the surf, but do not use it as much. It is set up for fishing, couple hatches and rod holders. I sometimes take it out to the lagoon in Carlsbad. Easy to paddle, can get some speed with it as well. I can definitely go longer distances than my other kayak (Cobra fish n dive).

As far as blem sales, I see you asked in another thread. I think you will get better answers there.

Ro12 09-27-2015 09:30 AM

Yeah i figured I would start a thread and ask everyone
Thanks Eddie
