My fish is bigger than your fish !

Took my son on his first Halibut hunting trip.

He has gone fishing with me many times, I always work very hard to ensure that he catches something.....but catching A Hali.....well......

Brian did not complain one time about the waves, sun, or anything else. He did get a little upset when he tried to pee....into the wind.:D He has to learn.

Brian's total for the day:

1 Sandy 16in c&r
1 Calico 17-18 in c&r
1 Hali 29in dinner

A couple of quotes from a 6 year old:

"Why don't we just eat these Sardines?"

"The wind attacked me with my pee."

"Catching Halibuts is not that hard, all your friends should try it."

"Daddy, I think I have salty butt."

"Daddy, you'll get one next time."

Awesome man. Trips with the kid are always a wild card. They can be the most rewarding, or the most frustrating.

kobra 06-02-2012 04:40 PM

Matt, that is so awesome! Happy for you.

jorluivil 06-02-2012 04:45 PM

I've fished with grown men that cried and complained about being on the water for 5hrs, this kid endured hours of fishing and never complained. We launched around 8am and didn't get off the water until after 430pm, when we landed he looked like he could have gone a few more hours.

Tman 06-02-2012 05:18 PM

Out fished by your boy...

Get used to it

Phenomenal job, and it only gets better...:luxhello:

Pretty soon, you'll get him his own yak and you get to tow him in at the end of the day...:the_finger:

Any day you get out fished by your boy is a GREAT day, no matter how much you get dogged...been there...

Fishing partner fir life!

Now there's a TRUE legend in the making! Awesome pics! Nice seeing you guys out there...good call stayin inside on the maiden voyage.
Your son taunting Jorge on the radio was classic too! Too bad you guys missed the Benny Hill show when I borrowed his gaff haha hopefully the video comes out soon.
PS..Still wanna see you and the CEO on your tandem one day :D

Vikingj 06-02-2012 10:02 PM

Great story and pics. Let's rethink the halibut size proportionally. If a 3' kid catches a 29" fish it would be the same as a 6' man catching a 58" halibut. Way to go, little buddy, you are so far ahead of any hali fisherman I know of! Congrats!

Way to go Matt! Have you had a him call his uncle in rub it in yet.
Those quotes are priceless.
I'll never forget the time I tried to pee out the sunroof of my buddies van on a trip to the sierras. Imagine what it's like with 65 mile an hour wind!

echo1er 06-03-2012 07:42 AM

like a boss! awesome quotes. You can say dinners on him.

GregAndrew 06-03-2012 10:13 AM

Epic!!!! Peeing is easy, wait till your 2 day constipation breaks when you are a mile and a half away from your mothership with only a 1 gallon ziplok at your disposal lol.

StinkyMatt 06-03-2012 02:49 PM

Thank you guys for the kind words. Brian has been checking the board with me to see how many people like his big fish. He is all excited and even sent a link to grandpa.:D
