I think I feel worse for the fisherman than the fish here! Give the guy a break-play nice. Slamming a guy for catching a legal fish and getting super stoked about it is not very COOL!

Dan just said it the best..

Nothing wrong with stating an opinion or or stating your perceived reasoning behind keeping or not keeping, just leave the name calling out!

Quite a learning experience for the kid! I'm sure his over excitement maybe clouded his jugement or maybe he just did'nt know that he can catch larger fish! Who knows?.We all have made one or two bad jugement calls at some point in our fishing experiences....come back kid:reeling:

If any of you haters out there have ever had the opportunity to eat day old pups, you wouldnt be hatin' tender as butter!!! :biggrinjester:

Everybody relax.. The kid lands his first thresher gets stoked, eats it... Big deal. Like he said he cr's most others. Better that poor little guy than a poor big guy that is breeding stock filled with mercury any way. Every time I see a trophy shark strung up I have two thoughts... What a magnificent creature and poor thing.... I just feel bad to see this but better the little o es I guess... No right answer here if you ask me. At least it is being harvested and appreciated. Good job, that is what fishing is about for me anyways.

Only post your report if you satisfy the following conditions:

The fish was legal

it was not too small...

it was not too big...

it was not a calico

it was not a fish considered a "trash" fish by any members of the board

you better not have kept more than one fish

you must eat ALL of your catch fresh the same day

God forbid you have some fish in the freezer already

You called and checked with fellow community members that they approve of your slot limit on the species.

You spent 5 hours trying to revive the fish unsuccessfully.

Oh, you always have to fish with 50 pound gear just to avoid having a fight over 10 seconds.

The fish can not be caught in "suspect" places like Cabrillo

Your post can not be made in the same decade as the catch.

All identifying marks and landmarks must be obscured in order to preserve the secret status of the location.

My head hurts!::confused:

BTW........sorry, I haven't called you back.

I caught this shark from a kayak and legally kept it. With this much hassle it is not worth posting another report. Enjoy kayak fishing everyone. It is a beautiful sport filled with luxuries, but since i dont recieve support from other fellow fisherman there is no value to report here, good luck and good bye. CB~

something about grossly overstating the facts of that "sizzling" battle...

exaggerating the weight of your fish will get the masses stirred up

Upon looking at that "tail" in the photo...I immediately reached down to see if my belt was gone...

This post has seemingly been homogenized by the Obama Administration. I feel good again.:luxhello:

- Just because something is legal don't mean its morally right to do it.

I would bet that if asked the large majority of fisherman on BWE would not kill a baby thresher shark. - Even though it may be legal to do so.

Given the scrutiny that all Kalifornia Fisherman are under by exploitive eco-terrorists. ie. mlpa proponents we need to be cautious how we portray ourselves publicly.
-I don't think its fair - but its the way it is - like it or not.

Thresher Sharks are a Hotbed issue given how little known about their biology and behavioral ecology. When you kill and hold up a baby thresher by the tail for the camera it doesn't go over well with a lot of people.

-If you held up a 5 lb. rat yellowtail you would catch flack as well.
Even though it is legal to do so....
