Awesome.I have to get out this week.

I've just started fishing for halibut in the last two months or so. I'll leave the recommended halibut rigs to the veterans. Below are two items I'm experimenting with. I haven't seen them discussed too much so I wanted to post pics. It may be more simple to use some of the traditional tackle, but I like to try new stuff out....


I use this instead of the three way. The top swivel allows for the bait to swim freely. I caught my first legal with this.

I tie a sliding trap rig, but I hated the fact that the bait would hook on itself and curl. I added a rubber "stopper," which can still slide. I'm still experimenting with this.

I'll second RedSledTeam. I've never met a hali that wouldn't take a spear. They don't have to be hungry, they just have to sit still for a few seconds ;) I prefer a heavy pole spear with a big double flopper head. Mike
