GREAT story Josh!

Dorado

Incredible story, Josh! The view below the paddy is incredible...the most dangerous predator to the spearfisherman can be the inexperienced fellow spearfisherman. Stay safe.

Cool whale pics!

The mighty sea has been real good to Josh. Your too young to pay back the ocean with your life right now. (that was too close)

Thanks for the awsome pictures!! BTW, those GWs have been checking me out lately... Maybe its a sighn thats my time is near...i hope not.

I'm glad your ok.

Thats crazy! I had a close encounter two weeks ago when a friend of mine shot his first yt on a paddy and got the line wrapped around his neck after grabbing the fish and it went crazy. I had to jump in and cut the cord because he had no knife. Nice fish too btw

Holy crap.... What a story. God just knew you still wanted to catch fish and share with your family! And that you will do for sure. :cheers1:

nice job

I recently took up spear fishing, since I had been diving for Lobsters the last 2 years and figured why not do it all. I had my ups and downs over the last year but I did take a class from Free dive in spear in Hermosa that helps and just completed my level 1 FII class that I highly recommend you take if you want to pursue that sport, its very addictive and I think you may. email: mark@freedivinginstructors.com was my instructor and you will learn how to breath properly, weight you belt, and safety first and by the end of the 2 day course you will be able to dive to 60' and hold your breath for 3 mins or more.
This is a amazing story and you might want to post it on www.spearboard.com for all the newbies out there to think about how easy it is for problems to happen. I started with a smaller gun and have moved my way up to a 3 band Islander which isn't as big as the one you were shooting but if I don't lock my wrist, I have almost sprained it. If you want to try it off your kayak I wouldn't mind taking you out and showing what I have learned so far and have a lot of extra gear now, 3 guns, 3 and 1/2 wet suits, 2 sets of fins,3 masks and snorkels, 2 weight belts, 3 dive knifes, 1 safety float and 1 open water float but only one 100' float line, 2 sets of booties. I do a lot of shore dives since I am close to PV and Malibu but will go where ever the fish are.
So far I have only added my kayak dive reports here, scroll to the bottom of the first page http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/s...ad.php?t=13340
Thanks
Dave

Wicked man, I would love to pop under a patty and eyeball schools of game fish let a lone get a shot at them!

bellcon 08-31-2012 07:19 AM

Damn Josh, your too young to become a statistic.
besides, you shouldn't be allowed to fish under water
the fish need some kind of sanctuary from your killing skills

Glad your OK and able to tell the story:cheers1:
